Thomas Williams / Arr. Glen Tuomaala
A short chorale arrangement for horn quartet (with bass and treble clef options) dedicated to my former classmate and tuba player Daryl Mann.
We were both Music Education graduate students at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
He had the best sense of humor and the unusual ability to play any instrument better than you could. He could pick up anything (even oboe and bassoon), mess around with it for 10 minutes and then sound like a professional. Sure, he passed all of his methods classes, but he was a tuba player and could phrase on any instrument like an expert. It was amazing and he was an amazing person. I still miss him.
This piece was played at the funeral service we had on campus. They put his tuba on the stage.
